Among the quantitative approaches of Project Management, PERT / CPM is the best known. It is a technique that allows the analysis of aspects of time, costs and resources and that is based on the representation of the project through a network. Nowadays it is no longer used to perform manual calculations on PERT / CPM networks: the computer is the right tool. In recent years there have been several releases of software for the area of Project Management, and the trend points to the popularization of use. There is also a trend towards more sophisticated use of such tools, mainly involving leveling resources and monitoring costs. Thus, the objective of this book is to give a conceptual view of PERT / CPM, in terms of time, resources and costs. Avant-garde approaches are presented, such as resource leveling, the CCPM model (Critical Chain Project Management) and the EVM model (Earned Value Management). Thus, it is expected that the reader will be better prepared to work with the available software.
